project goal
Reimagining the way people on home hemodialysis are treated
what is home hemodialysis?
Hemodialysis is a treatment that removes fluid and waste products from blood when the kidney is unable to. It controls the blood pressure and balances important minerals in the blood.
“needles are often a patient’s first obstacle”
-kristy (dialysis tech)
During my research, I was able to interview a dialysis tech and ask about what issues occurred the most often during treatment for both the caretaker and the patient.
It was brought up that since treatments last around 2 hours and need to be taken daily, a focus on mobility and needle procedure became apparent.
